A popular daily soap television actress got arrested by Mumbai Police Officers for getting involved in a high profile sex and prostitution racket along with her spot-boy, on Sunday November 20, 2011. Police has recognized the suspects as Azra Jan, assumed name Zara, who is in her 21 year of age, and Neeraj Bhadani who is in his 27 year of age, both residing at Andheri in Mumbai.
Polices said that acting on information to Constable Ashok Takalkar, a squad led by inspector Bhanupratap Barge placed a trap in the course of a trick and nabbed them red-handed at a five star hotel close to Pune railway station. Right away after that, the actress’s lawyer surrendered a bail request, but as she was unable to generate a guarantor, the court sent her to the Yerawada central prison.
They had given out the information that Zara is a resident of Kashmir and had moved to Mumbai for an acting profession. She resides at Versova in Andheri, Mumbai. Bhadani hails from Delhi and as well resides in Andheri, near Veera Desai Road.
Inspector Barge had said in his statement that from their investigation it is been came to knew that the suspects were targeting wealthy and high profile clients. Zara was charging apprently Rs 1.5 lakh for an hour from her clients and she would only meet them in luxurious rooms of 5 star hotels. Police had as well stated that Bhadani was acting as an agent, who was arranging clients and was booking hotel rooms. Further stated that Zara and Bhadani visited Pune previously for the same intention and thus time they got in touch with the suspects through a trap.
Bhadani came to Pune in the company of Zara in a hired car on the afternoon of Saturday November 19 and had landed at a 5 star hotel, which was close to Pune railway station. Paperwork’s of the same hotel showed that Bhadani had as well reserved rooms in his name quite a few times in past.
During cross-examination, Zara apparently informed the police that she had acted in a television serial, Kasauti Zindagi Kay which was running under the banner of Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, and had as well acted in a Bollywood movie, Lamhaa (2010), starring Sanjay Dutt and Bipasha Basu, which was directed Rahul Dholakia and produced by Bunty Walia and Jaspreet Singh Walia.
Police is considering that the suspects might be running the racket in bigger cities as well for the previous two years. Police as well think that more people from the industry could be involved. Inspector of the Bund Garden police station, Sudhakar Kate said that they would like to interrogate both of them separately in this regard. Further said that he as well wants to look into whether Bhadani had forced the actress into this sex-racket, and would as well like to verify their cell-phone call details. The JMFC court remanded Bhadani to police detention and had sent the actress to magisterial detention.
